Why is the development of a rational outlook on birth control necessary in India today? Enlist the different methods of birth control?

At the time of independence India's population was 350 million and today it has exceeded 1 billion. Hence, taking prudent steps is important but with a rational outlook because it has been seen in past, that country like China saw disturbed demographics after imposing one-child policy, therefore the governments need to make plans while keeping in mind it's long term impact on society as a whole. Various methods of birth control are:

• Natural methods: Periodic abstinence, coitus interrupts, lactational amenorrhea, etc
  
• Barriers: Diaphragms, cervical caps, vaults, etc
  
• IUDs: CuT, LNG-20, etc
  
• Oral contraceptives, injectable implants and surgical methods.
