Dear student,

Frequency is inverse of time period.The length of time in seconds that the waveform takes to repeat itself from start to finish. In DC circuit it is assumed that it repeats at infinity.Hence frequency is zero.In AC circuit,waveform repeats itself at regular interval.If it repeats itself at 0.02 sec then frequency will be 50 Hz.In India we use 50 Hz as optimum because it keeps transmission loss at minimum.Higher the frequency more will be the loss.
