  6. Excess or worn-out cell parts are broken down by them.
  7. They could be utilised to kill viruses and bacteria that have infiltrated the system.
  8. If a cell is injured beyond repair, lysosomes can assist it to self-destruct through a process known as apoptosis, or programmed cell death.
