Question

Why is the mechanical advantage of the lever of second order alway greater than one?

Open in App
Solution

In second class lever, the load is situated in between effort and fulcrum. Hence , the effort arm is bigger than the load arm. Since MA = Effort arm/Load arm MA is always greater than 1. In other words a class 2 lever always acts as a force multiplier that is a less effort is needed to overcome a large load
