Why is the modern periodic table also referred to as Bohr's table?
Modern periodic table:
1. Modern periodic table was proposed by Neils Bohr and he arranged elements into 18 groups and 7 periods based on the increasing order of their atomic number.
2. Modern Periodic law: Moseley proposed a law “ The physical and chemical properties of elements are the periodic functions of their atomic number or electronic configuration".
3.Bohr has classified the modern periodic table into representative element, transition metals, inner transition metals and noble gases based on the reactivity of elements.
4.Bohr also contributed to the classification of periodic table into various blocks called s, p, d, f blocks based on the differentiating electron entering into s, p, d, f subshells respectively.
Hence, Modern periodic table is also called Bohr's table because the classification of elements into blocks according to their electronic configuration is the Bohr's scheme.
