Question

Why is the motion of satellite along their planets considered an acceleration motion.

Open in App
Solution

In uniform circular motion, a body moves in a circle. The acceleration is constant. The velocity changes due to a constant change in direction, but the speed remains constant. The motion of a satellite in a circular orbit is uniform circular motion. If the motion of the satellite is non-uniform, then the radius of the orbit will be changing and the path won't be circular.

Acceleration is define as the rate of change of velocity. As the direction of velocity is changing continuously in uniform circular motion that's why it is called accelerated motion.
