Why is the ocean water salty ?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student According to the scientists, ocean had its origin from the prolonged escape of water vapour and other gases from the molten igneous rocks of the earth to the clouds. Then rain continued for the centuries and created ocean. Ocean's salts are derived from the processes like breaking up of the rocks by weathering and erosion. These rocks contains salts, therefore ocean water is salty. Some of the salts come from the solid and gaseous materials that escaped through volcano. Regards
