Why is the opening of a dropper very narrow?

Solution

For a given force, the pressure is inversely proportional to the area. The narrow opening of a dropper increases the pressure inside the dropper. As a result, even if the dropper has small amount of ink in it, its pressure can be equal to the atmospheric pressure.
