Question

Why is the plasma membrane called a selective permeable membrane

Open in App
Solution

IT IS BECAUSE , Plasma membraneallows some material to pass through it while on the same time it blocks other material from entering through it… In other words its selects materials that can enter the cell… that`s the reason it is called as selectively permeable membrane.

plasma membrane is selective permeable due to its structure I.e lipid and protein lipid allow only lipid soluble molecules entry.

And protein channel are specific for molecules different channel for different ions so members permeable to only that ion which have channel for it.
