Solution

LED is a semiconductor device and is a pn junction diode.you will learb more about diode in gigher classes . One thing you want ti know about it now is current flow throug a diode only if it is connected in such a way that the positive of diode is connected to positive of battery and negetive of diode is connected to negetive of battery. The positive lead of the diode is longer than negetive for identification only.so the longer lead is connected to positive of battery and the shorter lead is connected to negetive of battery, so that the current can flown through it and LED glows.
hope you understand.
thank you.
