Question
Why is the speed of sound constant?

Solution
Speed of sound:
The speed of sound is defined as the distance travelled by a sound wave per unit time through an elastic medium.
Although the speed of sound varies greatly for different mediums, it remains constant in the same medium throughout.
The speed of sound in air is 330m/s.
The speed of sound is the product of frequency of the wave and wavelength of the medium.
Since the frequency doesn't change and the wavelength in one medium remains same, the speed of sound is also constant while travelling in one medium.
Hence, the speed of sound is constant.

We know that the speed of sound depends on frequencyand wavelength, v=lambda x frequency. But the velocity of the wave on the medium is constant if elasticity and temperature is not changed, why so? Also if we change the frequency of sound from the source why does the speed not change?
