Why is the use of A.C. voltage preferred over D.C. voltage? Give two reasons.

The use of A.C. voltage is preferred over D.C. voltage due to the following reasons :

(i) The energy losses in transmission of A.C. voltage are very less as compared to D.C. voltage.

(ii) A.C. voltage can be controlled as required by using a suitable transformer (i.e., either stepped up or stepped down).
