Question

Why is there a difference in the climates of regions close to the oceans and regions far away from the oceans?

Open in App
Solution

Instructions:
  • Location of places near oceans
  • Explain how nearness to the ocean affects climate
Solution:

There are differences in the temperature of different places on the earth. Similarly, there Is a difference in the maximum and minimum temperatures. This difference is less in the coastal regions (nearness to the sea) while it is more in the regions far away from the sea (continentality).
  • Places near the ocean have a moderate climate which is neither too cold nor too hot. Mahabaleshwar experiences a moderate climate because of its coastlines in Maharashtra.
  • Places far away from the ocean have extreme climates which are too cold in winters or too hot in summers. For example, New Delhi.
  • Winds always blow from high pressure to low pressure. Therefore, winds change the temperature of a place and affect the climate.
