Why is there emphasis on reviving ancient water harvesting systems?

Dear student,
There is the need to revive the ancient water harvesting system because of the following reasons:-
1) It prevents the people from migrating to other places in search of water.
2) Scanty rainfall and lack of groundwater results in acute scarcity of water.
3) Ancient water harvesting system is not efficient and leads to less storage of water which is not efficient for survival during water distress.
