Why is the sun called the ultimate source of energy?

Open in App
Solution

The Sun:

  1. Plants require sunlight, water, and CO2 for photosynthesis to make their own food.
  2. Plants convert solar energy from the sun into chemical energy which is in the form of food.
  3. Animals are heterotrophs and cannot make their own food for which they rely directly or indirectly on plants.
  4. Animals consume plants and their products to use this chemical energy for their life processes and activities.
  5. There are some other energies that rely on the sun like wind energy, tidal power, and wave power.
  6. Hence, the Sun is called the ultimate source of energy.
