Question

Why is wood not attracted to a magnet?

Open in App
Solution

Magnetism:

  1. The force of attraction or repulsion established between magnetic materials when they come in contact with each other's magnetic field.
  2. The magnetic field may or may not exist in all materials.
  3. However, some materials can be induced with a magnetic field in close contact with a magnet.

Solution:

  1. Wood is a non-magnetic material, therefore a magnetic field cannot be induced into it by an external magnet.

Hence, wood is not attracted or repelled by a magnet.
