Question

Why it is easier to swim in seawater than in river water?

Open in App
Solution

  1. When a body is partially or fully immersed in a liquid an upward force acted, this force is called buoyant force.
  2. This helps the object to float on the liquid.
  3. The difference in pressure acting on a body that is partially or fully immersed in fluid above and below the body is called buoyancy.
  4. This depends on the density of the liquid.
  5. The density of seawater is more than the river water.
  6. This makes the upward force act on the body more and hence makes it easier for the swimmer to swim in seawater.
