Question

Why it is necessary to increase or decrease the current in an electric circuit

Open in App
Solution

Dear student, It is necessary to increase and decrease the current because any circuit is made to operate under definite amount of current value only. So if a current of very high value is given then the circuit will get damaged and also if a very small value is given then also the circuit will not work efficiently. Rheostat is a device which provides circuit resitance. WE use Reheostat in a cirucit to increse or decrease the resistance in a circuit. Rheostat performs the fuction of increasing and decreasing or mainting the amount of resistance in a circuit. Resistor provides a fixed amount of resistance. But Rheostat provides resistance in difference amount at various positions, rheostat can increase the resistance or it can decrease the reisitance so it provides variable resistance to the circuit.
