Why meristematic tissue is called a simple tissue?

Dear Student,

A group of cells which have the similar origin, structure and function are known as simple permanent tissues. Meristematic tissues are always simple tissues as they consists of only one type of cells. These cells are immature and undifferentiated. Permanent simple tissues are developed from the meristematic tissues by the process of cell differentiation.
