Question

Why molar conductivity decreases when concentration increases?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

In strong electrolytes, strong inter-ionic forces of attraction exist between oppositely charged ions. This inter-ionic force hinders the conducting ability of strong electrolytes. As concentration increases, the inter-ionic forces increase, and thus the molar conductivity decreases.
