MTP stands for medical termination of pregnancy/ induced abortion. It is the process of termination of pregnancy before full term as per the will of the pregnant female under medical support.

2: Significance
Significance of MTP are as follows:
● To eliminate the unwanted pregnancy that occurs because of either the failure of the contraceptives used or absence of contraceptives during intercourse.
● To terminate a pregnancy in case of occurrence of any serious medical condition that makes continuing the pregnancy life-threatening.
