Question

Why only a tip of iceberg visible outside the surface of seawater?

Open in App
Solution

  1. The density of ice is 0.917g/cm3.
  2. The density of seawater is 1.02g/cm3.
  3. If a large glacier breaks in a cold region it may float in seawater with a small part outside as the density of ice is less than seawater.

Hence, the tip of the iceberg is visible outside the surface of seawater.
