Pitcher plant and Opuntia are homologous as they are structurally same but have different functions. In Pitcher plant whole leaf is modified into a pitcher like structure which is used to trap insects but inOpuntia the minute leaves are modified into spines to check the rate of transpiration and also to protect plant against grazing animals.
