  1. Pitcher plant is an insectivorous plant which consists of a specialised structure called pitcher.
  2. Pitcher is a modification of the leaf and it helps the plant to catch prey (insect).
  3. Pitcher plant needs to feed on insects because it grows in nitrogen deficient soil.
  4. Hence to fulfill the nitrogen and other mineral requirements it feeds on insects apart from doing photosynthesis.
