why potassium Hydroxide sticks are kept inside the bell jar

Solution

Potassium hydroxide absorbs CO₂ which is present inside the bell jar. When carbon dioxide is absorbed, leaves present in the bell jar will not get CO₂ for photosynthesis. As a result, starch will not be synthesised. This is used as an experiment to show the importance of carbon dioxide in the process of photosynthesis.
