Question

Why pressure exerted in any confined mass of fluid is transmitted indiminished in all directions

Open in App
Solution

If you exert pressure on a fluid which is confined (can not flow), this will be equally distributed throughout the fluid.

Force per unit area is known as pressure. When we exert pressure in any confined mass it is equally distributed in all direction. This is related to Pascals law. Hydraulic press and Hydraulic brakes work under the principle of Pascals law. So this we can prove with the help of an activity.

Eg:-When you take 1 balloon filled with water and make different holes in different position and press the balloon. We can see that water comes out. From this we can prove that pressure exerted in any confined mass of fluid is transmitted undiminished in all direction.
