Question

Why rate of diffusion of liquid in another liquid is greater than the rate of diffusion of a solid in a liquid

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
The rate of diffusion is higher in liquids than in case of solids because in liquids there are large intermolecular spaces compared to solids and also a higher kinetic energy therefore the liquids molecules can move acrosss each other and diffuse faster compared to solids.
