Why reaction of sodium with dilute HCl highly explosive?

Sodium and hydrochloric acid gives the following reaction:

2Na + 2HCl → 2NaCl + H2

Since, sodium is a highlyreactive metal, thus it reacts withhydrochloric acid vigorously and produces large amount of heat. Thus the reaction between hydrochloric acid and sodium is highly explosive. Even sodium reacts with water vigrouly.
