Question

Why should an ammeter have a low resistance?

Open in App
Solution

An ammeter is connected in series with the circuit to read the current. If it had large resistance, it will change the current in circuit which it has to measure correctly.
Hence ammeter reading will have significant error; so for correct reading an ammeter should have a very low resistance.
