Why should an equation be balanced? Explain with the help of a simple equation.
If in a chemical equation the total number of atoms in the reactant side is equal to the total number of atoms in the product side then the chemical reaction is said to be balanced. For example
The chemical reaction should be balanced show that it can follow the law of conservation of mass which states that matter can neither be created nor be destroyed but can be converted from one form to another.
Example: H2 + Cl2 ---> 2HCl
