Solution

Step 1: Sewage

  1. Sewage is wastewater that is discharged by hospitals, houses, or businesses and conveyed away in sewers or drains to be disposed of or converted into a non-toxic form.
  2. Sewage is a combination of suspended materials, organic and inorganic pollutants, nutrients, saprophytic and disease-causing bacteria, and other microorganisms.

Step 2: Oils and fats not released in drain

  1. Sewage from each residence is collected through drainage and transported to wastewater treatment plants, where it is discharged into aquatic bodies, via a network of pipes known as sewers.
  2. Cooking fats and oils should not be poured down the drain since they clog and block pipes.
  3. Used tea leaves, solid food leftovers, soft toys, cotton, sanitary towels, and other items that obstruct the free passage and should not be tossed down drains.
  4. This slows down the decomposition process.

Hence, oils and fats should not be released in drain because they clog and block the pipes.
