Explain why we should conserve minerals
Explain methods by which we can conserve the minerals
Solution:
We should conserve minerals because they are non-renewable. Once it's over it's over .
That is they are present in finite quantities
It takes 1000s and 1000s of years to form
So with excessive use we will run out of minerals
We are so dependent on minerals. That it is used in almost everything we use. From the stapler and the stapler pin, toothpaste, the bricks which make up our houses to the fuel we use in our cars.
Over exploitation of minerals has reduced the quantities of minerals to very alarming rates.
So conserving minerals is very important.
Being said that, how can we conserve the minerals.
Well the first step would be switching to renewable resources.
Like solar power, tidal power, hydro-electric power and the use of biogas.
Mining destroys the natural habitat and pollutes the environment.
It also produces a lot of waste. And these are a big concern to the exhaustion of minerals .
So, the next step would be reducing the mining waste.
And another big measure would be reducing the need to extract more minerals.
This can be kept in check if we recycle the metals.
