Question

Why should we not wear clothes made of synthetic fibres (like nylon or polyester) while working in the kitchen ?

Solution

Synthetic fibers melt on heating. If they catch fire, they melt and stick to the body of the person wearing them. This is why it is advised not to wear clothes made of synthetic fiber while working in a kitchen or in a fire laboratory.

Synthetic fibers such as Nylon or polyester could lead to the quick burning even when the flame is removed.

They have more carbon and hydrogen compounds in the structural composition; therefore the chances of excessive release of heat are always high.

Fibers shrink from the flame leading to continuous dip and more burns.
