Question

Why some of the leaves may get detached from a tree if we vigorously shake its branch???????

Open in App
Solution

When the branch is suddenly set in motion, the leaves attached to it tend to continue in their state of rest, on account of inertia of rest. This generates a lot of strain at the junction of leaves and the branch. Due to this strain, some leaves get detached from the branch.
