Question

Why some solids diffuse in liquids but not in gases and some solids diffuse in gases but not in liquids

Open in App
Solution

Generally it depends on particles size.
like sugar particle size can fit between the particles of water.
there is less intermolecular space between particles of water than in air so particles of solid and liquid are packed tightly.
and some solids diffuse in air because they need more intermolecular space that air can provide but water can not.
