Why sound waves are mechanical waves?

Mechanical Waves

1. These waves require a medium for transfer of energy from one location to another. Waves travel through a medium until it's all energy is transferred. For example: sound waves and oscillations on a rope etc.
2. In a sound wave particles of wave vibrate in direction parallel to direction of wave.
3. As we know that sound waves cannot travel through a vacuum, it requires a medium for propagation.

Hence, sound wave is a mechanical wave.
