Solution
Central nervous system
The nervous system comprises the brain, spinal cord, and nerves that communicate throughout the body.
The brain is a complex organ that controls both voluntary and involuntary activities like memory, thinking, emotions, vision, breathing, blood pressure, posture, digestion, etc.
The spinal cord is the extension of the brain (medulla oblongata region). It conducts impulses to and from the brain and helps in various sensory (sense temperature, pain, pressure, touch) and motor (skeletal muscle movements) functions.
The nerves help in carrying the impulses from the peripheral regions to the brain and the spinal cord. It is the brain and spinal cord that processes the sensory information and sends out appropriate responses.
Thus, the brain and spinal cord are considered a part of the central nervous system.
