Aluminium is used not only to wrap tablets but other food materials also because of its property to develop a passive oxide layer which inhibits oxidation. Aluminium oxide effectively protects the food products from getting worse due to reaction with atmospheric oxygen, moisture or acids. (Basically prevents rancidity).
