Why testis are found outside the abdominal cavity in males?

One pair of the testis is found in man where sperms are formed. This testes found in the scrotal sac. Since the formation of sperms does not take place at the body temperature, but these forms at $2-3^{o}C$ below of the body temperature. Hence testes hang outside of the abdomen while in the embryonic stage this is found in the abdomen cavity.
