Question

Why the bright light focussed on eye causes blinking?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

When we try to focus the bright light, the iris is not able to decrease the size of the pupil, in fractions of seconds(iris controls the amount of light entering the eye, by controlling the size of the pupil). Whereas the peripheral nervous system directs the eye-lid to close to prevent the entry of bright light into the eyes. So, we blink our eyes while focussing on the bright light.

Thank You!
