Question

Why the cotton easily burns?

Open in App
Solution

Cotton contains 91% Cellulose - a flammable reagent and 7.85% water - a relatively low amount (not enough to prevent combustion in a reagent), and a low density to allow more air:reagent ratio - for more efficient combustion.
This is why cotton burns easily.
