Question

Why the deflection inside the coil increases if we insert an iron rod?

Open in App
Solution

When an iron rod is inserted between the coils the magnetic flux through coils increases. This happens because iron is a ferromagnetic substance and it lets more number of magnetic lines of force to pass through it. Since, flux increases the induced emf also increases, hence, the deflection of the galvanometer also increases.
