The eastern coastal plains lie between the Eastern Ghats and the Bay of Bengal. At the mouth of the river Mahanadi, Godavari, Krishna & Kaveri Deltas have been formed making the plains fertile and suitable for the cultivation of Rice. Hence it is known as the Rice bowl of India.
