Question

Why the lattice energy of LiF is higher than the other metallic fluoride?

Open in App
Solution

Smaller the size (internuclear distance), more is the value of lattice energy/enthalpy
Since internuclear distance is expected to be least in LiF its lattice energy is higher than other mettalic flourides.

Hope this helps :)
