why the matter exists in different states.?

Dear Student,
Matter exits in three different states solid, liquid and gas due to difference in interparticle force of attraction.
If interparticle force of attraction is very strong then interparticle space will be very less so matter can exist as solid.
If interparticle force of attraction is strong then interparticle space will less(more than solids) so matter can exist as liquid.
If interparticle force of attraction is very weak then interparticle space will be very large so matter can exist as gas.
