The pregnancy is avoided after the age of 40 years because of the following reasons:
The viability of the primary oocytes declines because they have taken their shape and form at the time of birth of the female.
The secretion of progesterone is affected and so the endometrium does not show deposition wee enough to sustain the pregnancy.
Chances of miscarriage increase.
Chances of genetic abnormalities in the foetus increases.
