why the process of boiling is not possible in closed container?

On heating the liquid, expansion occur and for this there must be some volume available for vapours to occupy. In a closed container there is no such volume is available. So the critical pressure of the liquid exceed, and the properties of vapour and liquid remain the same. So there is no heat input.
