Why the rate constant is called specific rate constant

Rate constant of a reaction can be determined when the concentration of the reactants are unity i.e. the reactants concentrations are specific then finding out the rate constant is called specific rate constant. Every reactions are carried out at unit concentration of reactant so the rate constant is called specific rate constant.
