Why the refining of highly reactive metals is not done?

Electrical refining method for obtaining pure metal from impure metal can be adopted for most of the metals like copper, silver, tin, gold and zinc except highly reactive metals like sodium and potassium as they will react with water medium present in the electrolytic solution.
