Question

Why the seed sown very deep in soil fail to germinate?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student, seeds have food stored in them in form of lipids. So, to grow, the seeds must respire and for that oxygen is required which not available at more depth. So, it is difficult for seeds to respire and hence grow. Hence, it is because of insufficient oxygen, seeds fail to germinate if sown at more depth. Regards
